Make Yourself The Most Interesting Thing In The Room
Autism, Early Intervention, Language Oct 20, 2018
Some children/individuals have difficulties making eye-contact.
Saying “look at me👀” or “eyes looking👀” has proven to have little to non-effect in increasing joint attention and reciprocal interactions.
Instead, you should aim to make yourself the most interesting thing in the room. Be silly, be clumsy, be funny 🤪, be present and use communication temptations those will get your child to look at you more naturally. By making the eye-contact situation more motivating, your child will thrive to engage in it.
